During the lockdown period due to the coronavirus pandemic, IFFD has participated in countless events organized by United Nations and many other entities, held online due to those circumstances.

International Day of Families 2020

The online webinar on 15 May 2020, organized by the UN Division for Inclusive Social Development, showcased recent research on families and SDGs from UN DESA, UN Women and UNICEF and share experiences on the impact of COVID-19 on the most vulnerable families.

The final publication of the ‘Families, family policies and Sustainable Development Goals’ project, promoted by IFFD, was presented by Dominic Richardson, Chief of the Social Policy and Economic Analysis at the UNICEF Office of Research-Innocenti and co-ordinator of the project.

UN Expert Group Meeting

The Division for Inclusive Social Development of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social affairs organized an Expert Group Meeting on ‘Families in Development’ from 16th to 18th June 2020. The EGM also addressed the following the appropriate ways and means for the preparations and observance of the thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family and beyond (2020-2024), arenting education in the context of Sustainable Development Goal 16, and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on families and parenting.

Ignacio Socias, Director of Communication and International Relations of IFFD, made a presentation on ‘Positive parenting: concept and applications.’

Alex Vazquez, Representative to the United Nations at IFFD, made a presentation on ‘Civil Society Perspectives on Parenting Education and Grandparenting.’
